That June Clouds & Sunbreaks Dance
Hi Friends!
Well, I think we’ve all had a chance to draw a weather number we can settle on this week, perhaps! Western Washington has managed a pretty wide variety of weather so far, and it’s barely even mid-week. You can check off the list: warm weather, rain, cool weather, wind at times (mainly during Sunday’s cold front passage), thunderstorms with lots of lighting, fog, sun, clouds….you name it, we probably managed it, save for some really severe weather, which is totally acceptable! Nothing like weather bingo; one for you, one for you, and one for you.
Anyway, it may seem strange after our last few warmer and drier than normal Junes, but our current weather pattern is actually totally normal for this time of year. Showers at times, with clouds and sun-breaks are right where we are supposed to be, with temperatures in the upper 60’s to right around 70. In fact, at SeaTac, we are STILL drier than normal this month, even though we’ve had some rainfall over the last week.
As the evening continues, expect those clouds and sunbreaks to keep doing their switching dance around the area. Overnight, temperatures will be in the low to mid 50’s under mostly cloudy skies as onshore flow strengthens again Wednesday and an upper level trough gets ready to move through again later Wednesday night. Wednesday day itself will remain mostly cloudy, although much like today with a few sunbreaks possible in the afternoon hours, but likely fewer in number than Tuesday. Overnight Wednesday, there will be a chance of showers in the mountains, and a very isolated chance of showers in the lowlands.
Thursday, we have a shortwave arriving for a more broad shower chance across the region, and Friday will be another mostly cloudy day with perhaps some isolated showers and mountain showers possible. Temperatures will mainly be in the upper 60’s, and possibly low 70’s in the warmest spots.
This pattern of relatively cooler, cloudy with sunbreaks at times, and the occasional chances for showers looks to continue into next week. I know many are waiting for a 4th of July forecast, and it’s still a bit too early to say with any certainty what will happen for sure on the holiday, but it does look right now that the likelihood of it being mainly cloudy with sunbreaks in the afternoon, and an off chance of showers.

Love that picture Brie! Such a nice variation of landscape and colors! And clouds too!! We are headed into a heat wave as we start July this weekend, and I am not looking forward to it. Your highs of upper 60s to around 70 sound wonderful! Keep up the great reporting! Cheers, Kevin
